Two Cortland Residents Found With Meth and Needles During Separate Arrests
Two Cortland residents are accused of possessing the drug meth and hypodermic needles following separate arrests this weekend.
On Saturday Cortland City Police arrested 40 year old Maria Franklin of 22 Court Street. Police arrested Franklin on two sealed indictments out of Cortland County Court charging her with felony counts of possessing a controlled substance.
During the arrest officer's found Franklin in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine and a hypodermic needle, she was charged with a misdemeanor count of drug possession and a misdemeanor for having the needle. Franklin is also accused of giving police a fake name, she was charged with false impersonation; a misdemeanor. Franklin was arraigned in City Court and held on $1 thousand dollars cash or $2500 bond, she's due back in Court on the 18th.
In another arrest, Cortland Police picked up 46 year old Charlton Crandall of 2962 Route 215. Crandall was wanted on a warrant charging him with three counts of petit larceny; misdemeanors. Crandall accused of stealing items from Kinney Drugs on Clinton Ave.
When he was taken into custody Crandall was also found with a hypodermic instrument and a small amount of meth.
Crandall was charged with misdemeanor counts of possessing a controlled substance for the drugs and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument for the needle, he was arraigned in City Court and held on $2500 cash or $5 thousand dollars bond.; he's due in Court Wednesday.
