A Dryden man who was sentenced to spend weekends in the Tompkins County Jail for a prior criminal conviction is now facing new charges after he attempted to smuggle contraband into the jail.

34 year old Clarence Hile of Dryden Road was charged with a class A misdemeanor on Sunday.

Tompkins County Sheriff's investigators say Hile ingested the contraband before entering the jail and he had hoped to retrieve the items while incarcerated. The Sheriff’s Office did not disclose the items.
