Carl Palladino Announces Support for Challenger in 22nd Congressional Race
Former Republican Gubernatorial candidate and Buffalo Businessman Carl Paladino is weighing in on the 22nd Congressional District race. Paladino is supporting Republican incumbent Congressman Richard Hanna's opponent in the upcoming June primary.
Paladino who who ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2010 has announced his support of Republican Assembly woman Claudia Tenney's in her bid to unseat Hanna.
Paladino called Tenney the "conservative Republican choice" in the 22nd District race.
Hanna, is seeking a third term in Congress, the 22nd Congressional District includes all or parts of Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Oswego and Tioga counties.
In his endorsement of Tenney, Paladino slammed Hanna calling him a RINO, or Republican-in-name-only. Paladino says Hanna, promised his constituents that he would vote like a conservative in Washington, but instead betrayed their trust by voting for trillions in new debt, more government spending, and higher taxes to fund Obama care.
Tenney has challenged Hanna to debates across the district so far Hanna has not accepted the call.
Meanwhile Hanna's campaign took a shot at Tenney yesterday, saying Tenney supports unconstitutional legislation that would censor the internet.
Hanna's camp was pointing to the Assembly woman's support of a bill in 2012 that would ban anonymous online comments and therefore censor speech.
Tenney cosponsored a bill that would require website operators upon request to remove any comments posted... by an anonymous poster" unless the author of the comments agrees to "attach his or her name to the post and confirms his or her IP address, legal name and home address is accurate.
The bill supported would also require websites to have a phone number or email address displayed for users seeking to request removal of an anonymous post.
Along with Hanna and Tenney, Michael Kicinski of Earlville is also running in the GOP primary. The primary will be held June 24.
