State Police Looking For Suspect in Marathon Counterfeit Case

The New York State Police in Ithaca are investigating a forgery case involving a counterfeit one hundred dollar bill that was used at Gregg’s Market on Route 11 in Marathon.
State Police say on March 21st around 4:45 pm, a white male entered the store and purchased a gallon of cider using a counterfeit one hundred dollar bill.
The investigation has determined that even though the suspect bill passed a security counterfeit marker test by the store cashier it was counterfeit. State Police are warning the public and business to be extra vigilant especially of customers using large bills to make small purchases.
Troopers are also asking for any information that may help identify the suspect in the Marathon counterfeit case.
