Cortland Burglary Suspect Takes Plea in Exchange for 3-6 Years in Prison

A Cortland man who broke into two apartments earlier this month has pled guilty to a burglary charge.
Earlier this month Cortland City Police arrested 47 year old Thomas Martinez of 100 N. Main Street, Cortland. Martinez was accused of of breaking into two apartments on North Main street where he took camera equipment valued at $1 thousand dollars and a debit card.
Martinez was charged with 2 counts of burglary and 2 counts of grand larceny; all felonies.
Yesterday Martinez was in Cortland County Court where he plead guilty to a felony count of burglary as part of a plea deal to resolve the case.
In exchange for the guilty plea County Prosecutors have recommended he be sentenced to 3 to 6 years in state prison, Martinez faces up to 7 years in prison when he's sentenced on April 29th.
