SUNY Cortland Student Charged With Falsely Reporting Car Jacking
A SUNY Cortland Student is facing a charge for falsely reporting an incident after he called police and reported that he was the victim of a car jacking, but it turns out he was intoxicated and got in someone else's car.
20 year old Owen Luckie of 110 DeGroat Hall on the college campus was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with a misdemeanor count of falsely reporting an incident.
Police say just before three o'clock in the morning Sunday, they received a call from Luckie who was at the A-Plus Gas Station on Port Watson Street. Luckie told police that two black men had forced him from his car, threatened his life, and took off with his car.
Upon further review police determined that Luckie who was highly intoxicated had actually got into someone else car and refused to get out, the two men physically removed him. Police determined that Luckie's car was actually parked on campus.
Luckie was issued an appearance ticket and is due in Court on the 26th.
