With Warmer Temperatures This Week, Homeowners and Roofers Scramble to Deal With Ice Dams
As temperatures are slowly warming up, snow melt on homes is creating ice dams and is damaging roofs.

Ice formations can be beautiful this time of year, unless they're hanging off your roof than you may have a problem on your hands.

Ice Dams force melting snow to back up and eventully make its way inside, the ensuing dmage can be very costly.

Local roofers says accumulated snow on roofs is the main culprit for ice dams. As it melts, it trickles to the gutters where the water freezes, forcing any other water from melting snow to back up into the roof and inside the home.

Homeowners are encouraged to call a professional to remove the ice. Using hatchets or icepicks could damage the roof.

To prevent ice dams from forming, carefully remove snow from your roof. There are roof rakes and shovels geared toward the job. If you are unsure about the extent of the ice jam, or cannot remove snow safely call the professionals. Also remember falling ice can be dangerous and damaging.
