Two Car Crash Sat. in McGraw Sends Both Drivers to the Hospital
Cortland County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a personal injury motor vehicle accident that occurred Saturday morning in the Village of McGraw.
Just after 9:30 Saturday morning officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department, along with McGraw, and Cortlandville Fire Departments, and TLC ambulance responded to a two car crash on West Main Street in the Village of McGraw.
Deputies say a 2001 Ford Winstar, operated by 35 year old Naomi Schmidt was traveling west with three children ages 4, 6, and 10. For some unknown reason Schmidt lost control of her vehicle, crossed into the opposite lane, and struck a 1993 Chevy blazer nearly head on.
The driver of the Blazer was 73 year old Howard Comfort, he was trapped in the S-U-V, rescuers had to remove him from the vehicle. Comfort was transported to University Medical Center in Syracuse with unknown injuries.
Schmidt complained of minor injuries and was transported to Cortland Regional Medical Center for an evaluation, the 3 children in the van were unharmed and were not transported.
West Main Street which is also Route 41 was closed for a short period of time, the investigation is ongoing.
