Number of Reported Flu Cases in Cortland County on the Rise
Reported cases of the Flu are on the rise in Central New York, including right here in Cortland County.

The Cortland County Health Department is reporting widespread flu activity.
County Health DirecIor Katherine Fuerherm reports that the current flu outbreak is affecting all populations  from infants to adults. The highest number of reported cases is among people 18-49 years old.
Fuerherm rpeorts that this years flu vaccine seems to be knocking down the virus circulating  this year.
Flu vaccine is still available in the community, residents are urged to call their medical providers to get the flu shot.
Pharmacies do have vaccine but cannot vaccinate anyone under the age of 18.
Fuerherm says the flu shot  remains the single best protection against the flu, she urges individuals to get vaccinated if you have  not already done so. the flu is very contagious and anyone can get seriously ill from the flu, even young, healthy people.
The Cortland County Health Department has vaccine for those without insurance, call 753-5028 to schedule an appointment.
