Cortland Man Accused of Stealing $35k in Cash and Jewelry

A Cortland man is facing felony burglary and other charges, he's accused of breaking into a home and stealing $35 thousand dollars worth of cash and jewelry.
Cortland City Police have charged 26 year old Libny Torres of 24 Union Street with two felony counts of burglary and 2 felony counts of grand larceny.
Investigators say between January 13th and the 22nd, Torres broke into a home on Union Street and stole $30 thousand dollars in cash and $5 thousand dollars in jewelry.
Police say Torres sold the jewelry at local pawn shops, detectives recovered some of the items. They did not find any of the cash at this point.
Torres was arraigned on the charges and sent to the County Jail on $5 thousand dollars cash bail or $10 thousand dollars bond.
