Voters Approve OCM Boces Building Purchase & Renovation
Taxpayers across Onondaga, Cortland, and Madison counties have approved OCM BOCES’ plan to purchase and renovate a building.
The purchase will allow BOCES to consolidate some of its locations.
The measure passed with a 93 percent approval. Out of 1,401 votes, 1,293 votes were in favor.
BOCES, which serves all three counties, wants to buy the old Nationwide Insurance building off of 7th North Street in Syracuse.
BOCES will borrow nearly $6 million to purchase the property, the acquisition will not add any cost to districts, as some of the current rental budget for buildings will be used to buy the new building.
OCM BOCES currently owns two facilities and leases eight additional buildings.
