** Update** Two Year Old Child Recovering After Being Run Over by S-U-V at Home in Virgil Wed.
A two year old girl that was accidentally backed over by S-U-V at a home in the Town of Virgil Wednesday morning is recovering from surgery.
State police say they did not believe there is any criminal intent in connection with the accident that occurred Wednesday morning at home at 2900 Douglas Road. The property is owned by the Reigning Miracle Ministry Church.
Around 10:30 this Wednesday morning, Virgil Firefighters responded to a report of a two year old girl that had been backed over there. The initial report was that the child was conscious and breathing but was spitting up blood due to her injuries.
Virgil rescuers called in Mercy Flight helicopter, the helicopter landed near the Elm Tree Golf Course which is across Route 13 from where the accident happened. The child was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital.
State Police Sgt. Robert Kidder confirmed the girl who has been identified as two year old Rebekah Claussen was run over by a Red Buick S-U-V that was parked in the driveway.
Troopers did not disclose the name of the driver or the relationship to the child.
Sgt. Kelly Daly with State Police said today that Claussen sustained a skull fracture as a result of the accident and that she underwent surgery yesterday and her condition was stable.
The State Police Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and Sgt. Daly said that investigators were still speaking with the driver.
