An arrest has been made in connection with the Moravia women’s body found on Sunday morning in Dryden.
Tompkins County Sheriffs Deputies have arrested 36 year old Arthur J. Basso of Moravia, Basso has been charged with leaving the scene of an incident without reporting it; a felony.
Investigators say around 7 o’clock Sunday morning they responded to reports of an unresponsive female on the shoulder of West Dryden Road near the intersection of Caswell Rd. Emergency responders found the body of 31-year-old Crystal Grobelny.
Grobelny was taken to Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton for an autopsy; the results of the autopsy have not been released.
Basso and Grobelny had apparently been dating, Police have not said how Grobelny died, but Tompkins County Sheriff Investigator Jodi Coombs who is leading the investigation says it does not appear she was hit by a car. Sgt. Coombs did not say how Basso may be involved. Grobelny' body was found about 15 miles from her home in Moravia.
The 31 year old woman leaves behind a 61/2 year old daughter.
Basso was arraigned in Dryden Town Court and remanded into the custody of the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash or $40,00 bond.
He is scheduled to appear Dryden Town Court on at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18.
Deputies say the investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending.
