Finger Lakes Land Trust Adds More Property to Summerhill Bird Sanctuary
Tuesday, November 12, 2013
The Finger Lakes Land Trust has acquired 86 acres of wetlands which will expand the Dorothy McIlroy Bird Sanctuary in the Town of Summerhill.
The Ithaca-based conservation organization said the additional land in Southern Cayuga County was acquired with a grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
The recent acquisition joins two existing portions of the McIlroy sanctuary which now includes 250 acres along Lake Como and Peth roads.
The Finger Lakes Land Trust did not say how much the acquisition cost.
