Homer Woman Recovering After Being Struck by Van on Halloween
Cortland City Police have released the name of the driver and the victim involved in Thursday’s vehicle pedestrian crash on Tompkins Street.

Just before six o’clock last Thursday evening Cortland City Firefighters and police responded to the accident on Tompkins Street in front of the 1890 House Museum.

Police say 54 year old Carlene Handlemann of Homer stepped in front of the oncoming van driven by Jay Adams of Canastota.

Handlemann sustained a head injury; initially she was taken to Cortland Regional Medical Center, but later transported to Upstate Medical in Syracuse as a precaution, she is reported to be recovering.

City Police say no tickets have been issued; they are unsure why Handlemann walked into traffic.
