Broome County Pilot Walks Away From Emergency Landing
Thursday, October 31, 2013
A pilot from the Town of Lisle was forced to make an emergency landing in the Broome County Town of Chenango yesterday after his small plane experienced mechanical problems.
State Police say 62 year old John Sherman of Lisle was flying his single engine experimental Cub from Chenango Bridge to Georgetown in Madison County when the plane's engine started to fail.
Sherman landed the plane in an open field adjacent to Mix Road; he was able to land safely and was uninjured. The plane's propeller was apparently damaged; Sherman towed the aircraft from scene.
