Franziska Racker Center Asking Tompkins County For Funds to Offset Flood Damage Costs
The Franzika Racker Center in Tompkins County is asking the County Legislature for money to help repair flood damage.
Racker Center Executive Director Dan Brown met with Tompkins County lawmakers Tuesday to ask for funding.
Brown says the heavy rains on August 8th sent six inches of water into the school, causing damage to the Racker Center’s gym, offices, and seven classrooms.
The flooding caused about $45 thousand dollars worth of damage; the not-for-profit’s flood insurance covered $30,000 of the damage leaving a $15,000 shortfall.
County Administrator Joe Mareane said there is no money in the county’s current budget to help the Racker Center, but he expects that county discussion will continue on whether the help with the organizations flood damage shortfall.
