New York State is providing close to a million dollars in funding under the NY Works initiative for improvement projects to address flooding concerns.
Specific work to be performed includes: raising the height of some dams to increase storm water storage capacity; reinforcing and regrading embankments; installing rip rap to control erosion; expanding piping and adding outlet valves; and installing new culverts.
The Papish Pond Dam in Cincinnatus will receive nearly $64 thousand dollars in funding. The money will be used to replace an outlet structure, and replace embankment material to improve dam stability. Construction is scheduled to begin this month.
