Route 13 in Ithaca Down to One Lane Due to "Bridge to Nowhere" Inspection
Thursday, August 22, 2013
A portion of Route 13 in Ithaca will be down to one today and Friday while crews inspect a pedestrian bridge that goes nowhere.
Route 13 south near Home Depot will be closed from 7 this morning until 6 tonight to accommodate State bridge inspection crews.
They will be inspecting the pedestrian bridge that crosses over the highway; locals call it the bridge to nowhere. The bridge was built in 2001 as part of a multi use trail system; while the bridge was built the trails were not.
Now the City of Ithaca is being required to spend $15 thousand dollars to inspect the foot bridge that is gated off and has never been used.
Due to the lane closures drivers should expect some delays, there is no detour is in place.
