Homer Woman Involved in Serious Crash on Route 13 in Ithaca
Five people were injured in two separate crashes on Route 13 in Ithaca early Sunday morning.
Around 11:30 Saturday night Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one car crash near the intersection of Route 13 and Seven Mile Drive.
A 2010 black Chevy sedan driven by 27 year old Kristina Yerian of Homer left the road struck a sign, a pole, a parked car, a moped, and a house before flipping over.
There were three other unidentified passengers in Yerians car.
That crash closed Route 13 into Sunday morning, as crews were working to clear the scene of another car driven by 22 year old Zachary Knewstub of Ithaca. He plowed into two cars that were being rerouted due to the first crash. Knewstub was charged with driving while intoxicated and a traffic violation of following too closely.
An Ithaca volunteer fire police member who was directing traffic had to be taken to the hospital after suffering chest pains.
