Cortlandville Wal-Mart and K-Mart Stores Expected to Be Closed Until Monday Due to Flooding
Friday, August 9, 2013
The Cortlandville Wal-Mart and K-Mart stores are expected to be closed for the next three days following flooding there Thursday night.
The management of the Wal-Mart and K-Mart stores have said it may take up to 72 hours to get the shopping centers back open following last night’s flooding.
Several inches of water filled the parking lots and then entered the stores in some cases literally washing merchandise off the shelves.
Several crews from disaster recovery and clean-up company Stanley Steemer were on site this morning pumping out water and cleaning up the damage at Wal-Mart.
It will take some time for the flooding in the parking areas to recede and for new merchandise to be brought in. Meanwhile the Cortlandville Price Chopper Store is open for business after being evacuated last night due to rising water. The nearby Lowes store is also open after flooding impacted operations there.
