Residents in Blodgett Mills Trying to Clean-up Flood Battered Properties
Friday, August 9, 2013
The Hamlet of Blodgett Mills was among the hard hit areas by Thursday nights flooding, property owners spent Friday morning trying to clean-up from the damage.
Dale Weaver who lives near the intersection of Blodgett Mills Road and Kellogg Road had water rushing through his house last night, fortunately nobody was hurt and damage to the house was limited to the basement. Debris including large trees and stones littered Weaver front yard.
Weaver’s neighbors were not so lucky their vehicles were washed out of the driveway and sustained damage in addition to their house.
Highway crews were trucking gravel into the hamlet to replace road shoulders that had washed away during the storm.
Weaver says the nearby creek that runs under Kellogg Road needs to be excavated and made deeper to allow more water to pass through the area.
