Teen Escapes Serious Injury in Homer Motorcycle Bicycle Crash
A teen was taken University Hospital in Syracuse last night after he was struck by a motorcycle while riding his bike on Albany Street in the Village of Homer.
Homer Village Police and Firefighters responded to the crash which occurred near the intersection of River and Albany Street just after 8 o’clock last night.
Police say the unidentified 14 year boy was riding his bike west on Albany Street, as the motorcycle rider approached the teen, the boy turned in front of the rider. The operator of the motorcycle attempted to avoid striking the child by laying the motorcycle over. The two collided and slid across the road, the impact sent the motorcycle rider over his handle bars.
The motorcycle rider sustained minor injuries and was walking around at the scene, the teen was taken to the hospital in Syracuse via ambulance with a suspected shoulder injury and possible concussion.
Village Police believe the teen was riding his bike with ear phones on and did not hear the motorcycle approaching and cut in front of it. The teen was not wearing a helmet at the time. No tickets were issued in connection with the crash.
