Truxton Man Admits to Possessing Cocaine in County Court

A Town of Truxton man who was arrested in connection with a drug raid in Cortland this past April will spend up to 4 years in state prison.
28 year old Dustin Sherman of 6766 Tully Truxton Rd. was arrested by members of the Cortland County Drug Task Force after they raided an apartment at 11 Church St. in Cortland where Sherman was selling marijuana and cocaine.
Sherman who was probation at the time of his arrest for a prior drug conviction was in County Court Monday where he pled guilty to a felony charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree. Sherman also admitted to violating his probation, he previously pled guilty to a felony marijuana possession charge.
Sherman will be sentenced as a second felony offender, which means he faces a stiffer prison sentence. County prosecutors have recommended four year on cocaine possession charge and a little over a year on the probation violation. Sherman also faces four years of post release supervision when he gets out of prison; Sherman is due to be sentenced on September 12th.
