County Legislature Approves Request To Extend Comment Period For Wind Farm
The Cortland County Legislature has approved a request to extend the amount of time that the public and involved agencies have to comment on the environmental reports and studies associated with a proposed industrial wind farm looking to locate in the county.
At the urging of the State D-E-C and interested members of the community, lawmakers voted unanimously Thursday night to provide more time to review Wind Developer T-C-I’s plan to install 44, 500 foot tall power generating turbines in the Towns of Homer, Cortlandville, Solon, and Truxton.
T-C-I has prepared an extensive Draft environmental impact report in connection with the project, the report includes pages of technical date and environmental studies.
Cortlandville resident Mike Barylski and others have been sifting through the documents and say they have uncovered numerous errors and inconsistencies. Given the complexity of the report he was glad to see the county provide more time.
The comment period was set to expire this past Thursday; it will now run until August 9th.
