FEMA Denies Individual Help For Flooded Communities, Cuomo Says State Will Step Up
FEMA has informed New York State that people living in areas affected by recent floods will not be eligible for individual assistance, Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced.
Money from the Individual Assistance program would have gone directly to people living the area damaged by floods.
Cuomo said in a statement, “The state will step up to the plate to ensure that those affected by these floods have the resources and assistance they need to get their lives back together.”
Last week, FEMA approved Public Assistance funds for local governments in Herkimer, Madison, Cortland and Oneida counties.
That money was approved for municipalities to perform emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities.
