With high temperatures and humidity this week Governor Cuomo has issued a heat advisory urging caution.
With highs this week in the 90’s Cuomo issued a heat advisory on Monday, even though the National Weather Service has not issued a heat advisory or a hazardous weather outlook for the area.
The weather service has issued a heat advisory for areas in the southeast part of the New York and a hazardous weather outlook for some western counties.
The elderly and small children, people with weight or alcohol problems and people taking certain medications or drugs should be especially aware of the heat. People should stay inside when possible and keep hydrated.
Dangerous conditions that can come from too much exposure to the heat include heat stroke and heat exhaustion.
