Cayuga Lake Inlet Closed Tuesday For Hydrilla Herbicide Application
Monday, July 15, 2013
Efforts to fight the invasive weed hydrilla will continue Tuesday; the Cayuga Lake Inlet in Ithaca will be closed to allow for the application of herbicide.
Since 2011 efforts have been underway to combat hydrilla, which if left unchecked could choke out the inlet and make boating and swimming in the lake impossible.
So far the weed has not been found outside the inlet, it costs about $500 thousand dollars a year to fight the hydrilla.
