Texas Man Leads State Police on Chase From Cortland to Jefferson County
A Texas man led State Police on a multi-county pursuit last night, it all started here in Cortland County just before 9 o’clock.
State Police here in Homer attempted to stop Christopher Moore of Dallas, Texas, on Interstate 81 last night.
Troopers initially tried to stop him for speeding, Moore was clocked at 83 miles per hour at the time. Moore refused to stop and continued traveling northbound, he traveled through Onondaga County. Troopers were able to end the pursuit after they deployed stop strips just south of Exit 42 in the Town of Adams in Jefferson County. Moore crashed into a ditch; he was then taken into custody. The investigation revealed that Moore was operating a stolen pick-up truck that was reported stolen back on May 31, in Kilgore, Texas.
Moore was also found to have been operating on an expired Texas driver’s license, and was in possession of two glass pipes containing marijuana residue.
Moore was charged with a felony count of possessing stolen property, a misdemeanor charge of fleeing a police officer, and unlawful possession of marijuana. Moore was also issued numerous vehicle and traffic tickets including speeding, reckless driving and unlicensed operation.
Moore, was arraigned and sent to the Jefferson County jail on no bail.
The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department helicopter was used during the chase.
