Enrollment Open For Educators Interested in Becoming Master Teachers
The New York State Master Teacher Program is open for business.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that the State University of New York is now accepting applications for the program. Cuomo unveiled the program in May, which rewards teachers for mentoring new and future educators.
If teachers are accepted into the program, they will receive an annual stipend of $15,000 per year for four years to mentor new and future science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) teachers. There will be required meetings, professional development and training sessions.
Applicants must meet certain eligibility guidelines to be accepted.
Applications are due Aug. 1. Interviews with candidates will be held in August — for central New York applicants, interviews date will be Aug. 5-6 — and the Master Teacher fellows will be announced Sept. 1.
