Two Cortland Men Charged With Failing to Provide Care to Injured Cat
Two local men are facing animal cruelty charges for failing to provide care to an injured cat.
Cortland County Animal Cruelty Investigators have charged 69 year old Orman Burlingame of 4408 Homer Ave. and 46 year old Richard Corl of 163 Homer Ave. with a misdemeanor count of failure to provide proper sustenance.
Investigators with the County SPCA say back on May 24th received a complaint about an injured cat seen near Burlingame’s home
SPCA investigators determined that the cat belonged Burlingame, he agreed to take the cat to a veterinarian.
Investigators say instead of taking the cat for care, he gave the cat to Corl.   Corl was aware the cat needed veterinary care instead of providing that care Corl attempted to turn the cat over to another person. That individual notified the SPCA investigators who then took custody of the cat.
The cat was taken to a local vet, but due to the injuries and condition of the cat it had to be euthanized.
Both Burlingame and Corl ticketed and released they are due in Cortlandville Town Court on June 24th.
