State Senate Passes Ban on Possession of "Bath Salts" and Synthetic Marijuana
Wednesday, June 12, 2013
The State Senate passed a bill that would ban synthetic marijuana and bath salts on Tuesday.
The sale of bath salts and synthetic marijuana is already illegal in the state, but possession of these substances is still considered legal.
With the current legislation, New Yorkers can buy these substances online or across state borders.
Synthetic drugs like Spice or K2 can have dangerous side effects, including hallucinations.
Bath salts have been known to cause extreme psychological reactions.
The bill is now in the hands of the State Assembly.
