NY Democratic Party Launches Ad Campaign to Support Cuomo's Proposed
Wednesday, May 29, 2013
The New York Democratic Party is pushing Gov. Andrew Cuomo's plan to create tax-free zones at SUNY college campuses and at select private universities.
The Democratic party started airing the ad just days after Cuomo unveiled "Tax Free NY," a plan to allow qualifying businesses on college campuses to avoid income, property and sales taxes for up to a decade.
Locally SUNY Cortland President Erik Bitterbaum and County Business Development leader Gary VanGorder have endorsed the proposal.
Critics of the tax free zone plan say it leaves too many families and business owners out the lucrative tax breaks.
