Strong Storm Moves Through Cortland County, Lightening Suspected in 9-1-1 Center Malfunction
A severe storm system moved through the region last night, prompting a tornado warning, the storm took down trees and wires. There were also some suspected lightening strikes that may have damaged at least one home.
 
Local firefighters were busy last night responding to downed trees blocking roadways, trees were reported down in Preble, Scott, and Cortland.
 
The storm brought with it multiple lightening strikes, power in portions of Cortland County including here in Homer was knocked out at various points.
 
At least one home in the Virgil area may have been hit by lightening and the County 9-1-1 System was knocked into the back-up frequency possible due to lightening striking at of near the main radio tower in Virgil.

No damage was discovered and the system is operating normally.
 
No injuries were reported, drivers may encounter limbs and wires down that have not yet been reported, use caution as you head out today.
 
Severe storms are forecast for today as well.
