An Ithaca man who has been convicted in connection with the shooting of an Ithaca City Police Officer is facing new charges after assaulting a corrections officer in the Tompkins County Jail.
23 year old Jamel Booker is facing charges stemming from a fight in the county jail last week.
A corrections officer was injured in the scuffle, his injuries are unknown.
Booker is being held in the jail following his conviction on seven felony charges at a jury trial last month. Booker was arrested in connection with the shooting of Ithaca Police Officer Anthony Augustine. The jury did not reach a verdict on the most serious charge of attempted murder.
Booker is now facing a felony assault charge for this latest incident; he was arraigned in Town of Lansing Court and sent back to the County Jail.
