Canadian Police Foil Planned Terror Attack on Passenger Train
Canadian authorities have arrested two men accused of planning to carry out an Al-Qaeda-supported terrorist attack on a passenger train that runs from New York City through Central New York and on to Toronto.
Officials with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police say the suspects were targeting a Canadian passenger train on one of its busiest routes in the Greater Toronto area.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation says the suspects were under surveillance for more than a year.
The train that runs from New York City to Toronto follows the Hudson from New York City to Rennsalear, crosses the Hudson into Albany, then runs west along the CSX Chicago line to Utica, Rome, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, Niagara Falls. It then heads to Canada, traveling eastbound on the north shore of Lake Ontario and into Toronto.
