Meeting Tonight to Discuss Future of Homer Village Offices
The Homer Village Board is holding a meeting tonight to discuss possible adding on to the Village Office Building on Main Street.
Tonight’s meeting at the Homer Fire Department underscores the issue, since the village relocated its offices from the Town Hall to its current location on Main Street, there is not enough room for meetings between village officials and the public.
Among the options under discussion tonight is adding on to the current village offices, Mayor Genevieve Suits says there is $175 thousand dollars set aside in the current budget to fund a possible addition.
Another option is for the village to return to the Homer Town Hall and resume renting space there.
Economics are a factor, the village previously rented office space for roughly $1200 a month, which included utility costs. The village owns the Main street property and can save the monthly rental payments by adding on.
Some residents have expressed concerns about the prospect of adding on to the building.
Tonight’s meeting is at 5 P.M.
