Check For Unclaimed Funds at This Weekend's Marathon Maplefest
Coming up this weekend area residents can find out if they are owed some of the state’s $12 billion in unclaimed funds.
Representatives from the State Comptroller’s Office will be at the Marathon Maple Festival this weekend, attendees to the event can see if the state is hanging onto any funds that they are owed.
State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli says “New York has $12 billion in unclaimed fund accounts. We want to return this money to its rightful owners,”
Representatives from DiNapoli’s office will be at the Marathon Fire Station from 9-5 Saturday and 9-4 Sunday, attendees can have the onsite representatives find out if they are owed money.
50 percent of claims paid are less than $100, but the Comptroller’s Office says one individual is owed over $1.7 million from one account. There is no fee to reclaim funds.
