Tompkins County Legislature Passes Resolution in Support of NYS Safe Act
The Tompkins County Legislature has passed a resolution that asks the State Legislature to take another look at the New York Safe Act, but rejects the call of some residents to rescind the measure.

It was another packed house at the Tompkins County Legislative session last night, around 100 people showed up at the meeting, some in favor of the new state gun legislation, while others remained opposed.23 people spoke in favor of the laws, with 28 against.

After listening to over two hours of public comment county leaders passed a resolution in support of sensible gun control, but demands the State Legislature and Governor provide funding for the increased costs associated with the law, including funds for the Sheriff, the County Clerk, and county mental health department.

The final resolution differs from the recommendations of the legislatures Public Safety Committee passed last week.
