Cortlandville Man Arraigned on Sex Abuse Charges Pleads Not Guilty
A Cortlandville man who is accused of engaging in sexual contact with a seven year old child, appeared in Cortland County Court Tuesday, he may take a plea deal.
42 year old Shane Fournier of Lorraine Drive was arraigned with his attorney on a four count indictment charging him with criminal sex act, predatory sex assault against a child, sex abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child. Fournier pled not guilty to all the charges.
Fournier was arrested back in January after Cortland County Sheriff’s Investigators say they were contacted by the victim’s parents.
Police say Fournier ordered a seven year old girl to perform a sex act on him. The alleged incident occurred at a location on Mclean Road in the Town of Cortlandville.
County prosecutors indicated that they are in talks with Fournier to resolve the case, but did not outline the terms of a potential plea agreement.
If Fournier pleads to the top count he could face 10 years to life in prison, he is being held on $25 thousand dollars cash or $50 thousand dollars bond.
