Cortland County Saw a Slight Bump in Sales Tax Collections in 2012
Cortland County saw a slight increase in sales tax last year.

The State Comptroller’s Office says sales tax collections in New York grew by $450 million in 2012, an increase of just 3.3% from 2011. 
 
Comptroller Tom DiNapoli says the sales tax trend is pointing in the wrong direction.
 
Cortland County did see some positive growth in Sales tax collections, locally collections were up over budgeted estimates.

Here in Cortland County nearly $26 million dollars in local sales tax was collected, which is nearly a million dollars more than was expected additional funds are attributed primarily to the New York Jets Camp in July and August.
 
Three counties include Chemung, Schoharie and Schuyler, had decreased sales tax collections.
