City of Cortland Has Funds Available to Assist Two Family Home Buyers
The City's of Cortland is reminding prospective home buyers about a financial incentive program aimed at owner occupied two family homes.
According to a press release from the City’s Housing Committee, one of city’s goal is to encourage homeownership, through a program started in 2011 those interested in purchasing a two family home in the city have an opportunity to get into a new home and cut their costs.
Prospective homeowners who purchase and occupy a two or three unit home in the city and rent the remaining units to low-to-moderate income households for a specified time period may be eligible for assistance with their down payment, closing costs, and rehabilitation funds through the grant program.
So far the program has assisted four home owners, but the city is looking for more participants for more information on the owner occupied grant program call Thoma associated at (607) 753-1433.
