Tompkins Trust Purchasing & Renovating Former Cortland HSBC Branch
Tompkins Trust Company has announced the purchase of the former HSBC branch office at 36 Main Street in Cortland, the bank will move from its current location on Clinton Avenue into the new location.
According to Tompkins Trust President and CEO Greg Hartz the bank is planning to renovate and move to the former HSBC branch which has sat idle since HSBC sold its Cortland branch to First Niagara as part of a deal to sell 195 branch offices. The current location on the corner of Clinton Avenue and Church Street will remain open while renovation of the new office is completed.
The larger office will offer a full service financial center with space for staff to provide the complete array of banking services offered by Tompkins Trust Company, including personal and commercial accounts and loans, plus the wealth management services of Tompkins Financial Advisors and insurance through Tompkins Insurance Agencies.
Brad Totman, Vice President for the Cortland-Dryden region. “The new office will include a drive-through service, which the bank had been unable to offer in its current location.”
Totman says “Engineers are reviewing possible exterior renovations as well”. Totman points out that the planned move to Main Street shows the bank’s long-term commitment to the community.
The exact date of the move has not been determined, but bank officials are targeting early spring. Tompkins Trust Company has 14 branch offices in Tompkins County and Auburn.
