High winds Sunday took down some limbs and wires, but no major damage was reported here in Cortland County.
Most of Central New York was under a wind advisory yesterday as heavy winds ripped through the region knocked out power in some areas. According to the National Weather Service, wind speeds above 30 mph were reported, with gusts of up to 47 mph.
A few minor power outages were reported locally; in addition some customers in neighboring areas like Summerhill, Locke, and Groton lost power.
Areas east of Lake Ontario saw heavy lake effect snow; Cortland County only saw some wispy flakes more lake effect is in the forecast today.
