Tompkins Lawmakers Award Bids For New Legislative Chambers Renovation Project
The Tompkins County Legislature has awarded construction contracts in connection with plans to renovate the old County Courthouse where the Legislature will move to.

Under pressured for more space from the State Court System, the Tompkins Legislature voted to renovate the second floor of the old courthouse and move its offices and chambers there.

McPherson Builders, Inc., of Ithaca, was awarded the General Contract for $298,721; Climate Control Technologies, Inc., of Endwell, was awarded the Mechanical Contract for $53,280; and Richardson Brothers Electrical Contractors, Inc., of Ithaca, was granted the Electrical Contract for $481,300, for a total cost of the work is $833,301. The county has opted not to award a Plumbing Contract, since it has been concluded that the work can be done by county staff at a cost savings of about $21,000.

Construction is scheduled to begin in February, with the Legislature scheduled to move in June.
