With a mid-winter warm up underway the Department of Environmental Conservation is advising ice anglers to take caution before venturing out onto what appear to be frozen lakes and ponds to fish.
The DEC is warning ice fishing enthusiast not to take snowmobiles tracks or footprints as a sign that it's safe to head out on the ice. Also snowmobilers should avoid taking their sleds on the ice as the warmer temperatures have created thin spots.
