Thursday, December 13, 2012
The Cortland Breakfast Rotary Club has raised over $2 thousand dollars to support the training of local emergency 1st responders.
Yesterday, Rotarians presented the proceeds of this past summer’s Ride for Rotary motorcycle charity ride to the instructors at the Cortland County Regional Training Center.
The Regional Training Center located on Tompkins Street behind the Cortlandville Fire Station provides local firefighters with a location where they receive the latest information and skills to help save lives and property. The center includes class room space as well as simulation areas to recreate actual emergency scenarios that rescuers may encounter.
Local Rotarians raised $22 hundred dollars to support the training center; Breakfast Club Chair Don Richards says they selected the training center because it impacts multiple communities here in Cortland County.
The money will be used to purchase hands on training props. The training center recently graduated its 100th student.
Individuals must complete a 150 hour training program.
