After months of work a former diner in Homer is soon to reopen as a barbeque restaurant.
Denny Morgan who owns and operates the Mountain View Restaurant and bar in Preble is set to open the former Cindi’s Diner and Carl’s Quick Shake ice-cream stand on Route 281 in the Village of Homer.
Earlier this week village planners gave Morgan the necessary approvals to open the restaurant.
Morgan who is well known for his barbeque, especially his pulled pork recipe wanted to bring his signature dish along with others to the village and hopes to turn the former diner into a place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner or for hosting large parties in his soon to be built picnic area behind the restaurant.
Morgan has been working for over a year on the property quietly cleaning up the site and making renovations inside the building. His new restaurant will be called Denny Jacks and will feature a drive thru window and indoor seating.
Village planners required that Morgan make some changes to his site including planting some trees at the rear of the property to screen the business from residents on Brentwood Drive as well as requiring all outside lighting be focused on the site. The State D-O-T required he restrict traffic in and out of the site.
Morgan is looking forward to opening up in the next few weeks, he has plans for the former auto repair shop also on the site, but will work on that project in the coming months.
