Cortland Woman Accused of Welfare Fraud
A Cortland woman is accused of filing false paperwork in order to obtain public assistance benefits.
23 year old Amanda McLean-Corey, of 7 ½ Church St. was arrested yesterday and charged with a misdemeanor count of offering a false instrument for filing.
Cortland County Sheriff’s Investigators and the Cortland County Department of Social Services say back on or about November 8, McLean-Corey is accused of submitting a fraudulent document to the Department of Social Services concerning the number of people living in her home.
McLean-Corey was ticketed and released she is due back in Cortland City Court on December 19th.
