Syracuse Woman Charged For Cortland Check Cashing Scam
A Syracuse Woman has been arrested in connection with a counterfeit check cashing scam last May.

Cortland City Police have arrested 27 year old Chantel Conerly of 131 Griffin Street, Syracuse. Conerly turned herself into police Monday, she was charged with a felony count of criminal possession of a forged instrument. 
Police say last May Conerly was among a group of Syracuse residents who were involved in a check cashing scam at the P&C grocery store at 160 Clinton Ave.
Conerly is accused of cashing a nearly $600 bogus payroll check.
City Police previously arrested three other people in connection with the scam, which was uncovered by a suspicious clerk at the grocery store. 

Conerly was arraigned and released; she’s due back in court on December 14th.
